Abstract

Stress distribution and strains are obtained in rotating compounded discs which are compounded of several constant or variable thickness discs. General two-dimensional elasticity equations of equilibrium and compatability are used in non-dimensional form combined with the boundary condition of stress and strains at junction points and at the inner and the outer boundaries of the compounded disc. The method developed here is compared with the previous results obtained from photoelastic and finite difference approximation and shows close agreement.
