Abstract

In summary, then, our study fails to reveal any correlation between anti-streptolysin-O titers and either anterior or posterior uveitis. By inference it seems unwarranted to assign a causal relationship between anterior uveitis and the beta hemolytic streptococcus. It is certainly possible that some instances of the bacterial type of anterior uveitis are streptococcal in origin, but we feel that this is more the exception than the rule. A brief discussion of the lack of value of desensitization and skin testing with an evaluation of the possible role of endotoxin in the therapy of uveitis would seem to confirm this impression.
