Abstract

An experimental study of the strengthening of under-reinforced concrete beams, by bolting thin steel plates to the tension faces of the concrete, is described. The results indicate that a significant increase in both the stiffness and ultimate moment of resistance can be achieved by such a technique and that the improved performance is quantifiable using conventional calculations.
