Abstract

The strength improvement of an injection‐molded and sintered silicon nitride ceramic (15.5 wt% Y2O3+10.1 wt% SiO2) produced by an oxidation heat treatment at 1500°C is reported. The ceramic retains its strength after prolonged intermediate temperature exposure in air, whereas the untreated material suffers various degrees of cracking.
