Abstract
In this issue of Developmental Cell, Acharya etal. (2018) uncover a mechanosensitive pathway that activates RhoA in epithelial cells exposed to acute tensile stress. This pathway serves to preserve tissue integrity via regulation of tensile strength, the threshold force above which adherens junctions rupture.
