Abstract

Through reshuffling and reinforcement, most leadership bodies of institutions of higher education in China have been strengthened and improved politically, professionally, and in their leadership workstyle. Nonetheless, quite a few problems still remain. For example, very few members of leadership bodies are in the prime of life, and professionally they remain at a low level; some leaders lack the resolve to implement the Party Central Committee's line, plans, and policies. In light of this, we must strengthen the establishment of leadership bodies in colleges and universities to make them truly become working groups that adhere to the Party line and that are composed of members in the prime of life who are well versed in vocational work, good at management, and united as one to engage in educational work. This, in short, holds the key to whether the Party leadership can be upheld and improved, and whether institutions of higher education can be run even more efficiently. Relevant departments and Party committees of colleges and universities must give adequate attention to this task. They must conscientiously work out plans for building leadership and energetically carry them out so that the job can be done carefully and successfully.
