Abstract
Failure due to local stress concentration is one of the most troublesome phenomena in the practical mechanical structures. For the reliability analysis of mechanical structures with local stress concentration, the determination of structure maximal stress (SMS) or stress concentration factors (SCF) is the principal problem to be solved. Although the accurate numerical solution of SMS or SCF can be obtained by numerical calculation methods and experimental methods, the explicit relation of SMS or SCF with the basic random parameters can't be given directly, which will bring difficulty for the further reliability research. For the problem above, the uniform experimental design and finite element method (FEM) are adopted to calculate the numerical solution of SMS firstly, and then the response surface method (RSM) is developed in this study to simulate the explicit relation of SMS with the basic random parameters. Based on the modeling of RSM, Monte Car1o and the reliability theory have been combined to solve the structural reliability problems in the case of the stress concentration.
