Abstract

Contact of two half-planes with local surface recesses is considered, provided that at least one of the bodies is anisotropic. Using complex representations of stresses and strains, the problem is reduced to a Cauchy-type singular integral equation (SIE) in the gap height function defined on the unknown intervals of gap occupation. Coordinates of the ends of these intervals are derived from the conditions on the gap shape smoothness. Imperfect mechanical contact of the half-planes due to one symmetrical surface recess is considered as an example. The solution to the problem is obtained analytically. Strength analysis is carried out for the components of mechanical system on the base of Fisher's failure criterion.
