Abstract

The objective of this study was to formulate a new cement replacement material using fly ashes. The strength development characteristics of two types of new ternary blended cementitious materials produced from three different types of fly ashes and silica fume (SF) were investigated in this study. The influence of water content, alkali activation synthesis by water dispersing agent on the ternary blends was revealed. The optimised blended mortar containing two different types of fly ashes synthesised with SF was reported to show more compressive strength than the control cement mortar when dispersed with polycarboxylate-based superplasticiser rather than sodium hydroxide (NaOH) activation.
