Abstract

The application of the highly dehydrated sewage sludge (HDSS) with high organic content was discussed through various alkali-activated cement binders. The fresh properties and the strength developments of the cement pastes with 5% HDSS by volume and a liquid-solid ratio of 0.6 mL/g were investigated. Results indicated that the 28-day compressive strength was recovered by the geopolymerization with economic advantages. The costs of such treatment are lower than the landfill by 3.6% or incineration by 30%.
