Abstract

This paper presents the results of strength and durability studies on light weight aggregate Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) made with expanded clay aggregate (LECA) partially replacing conventional coarse aggregate. The grades of the concrete investigated are M20, M30, M40 and M60 which consist of low, standard and high strength concretes. The durability studies include sorptivity, acid and sulphate resistance. The densities of LWSCC varied from 1870 kg/m3 to 1950 kg/m3. The sorptivity was found to be more. Acid and sulphate resistance were found to be less in LWSCC. The paper describes the details of investigations and results on LECA based LWSCC.
