Abstract

We developed a method of contact less vacuum-diffusion chromizing of low-carbon and low-al loy s tee ls to a depth of 3 mm under the following conditions: t > 1400 ~ C; ~_> !6 hr; p = 0 .01-0.1 mm Hg. Technical grade 70% f e r r o c h r o m e flake was used as the meta l l iz ing medium. Due to the high ducti l i ty of the chromized layer it is possible to fabr ica te c o r r o s i o n r e s i s t a n t s teel sheet by hot and cold rol l ing of slabs chromized to a cons iderable depth.
