Abstract

The wheels of Electric Multiple Units (EMU) is used to carry the mass of the car body and connect the track. Therefore, it is one of the most important parts in the bogie. In this paper, the wheels are based on the modal analysis, static strength analysis and the analysis of natural frequency of vibration. According to analysis of stress nephogram of wheels, the strength of wheels meet the standard can be checked. In this paper, 3D models for the wheels and axles can be carried out by Pro/e, and especially their assembly. Then wheels with finite element analysis can be carried out by ANSYS. The change of wheels’ strength under three kinds of working conditions can also be analyzed, and the natural frequencies of the wheels and deformation degree, etc. Finally, it is concluded that under the low frequency the wheels meet standard requirements, and especially under the straight track condition, corner condition and working condition of switch, can also satisfy the requirements of the standard strength.
