Abstract

This paper presents a street lighting (SL) monitoring solution working at cabinet level, developed at the Municipality of Trento, Italy. This solution is based on standard open-source software, self-developed tools and standard power meters. As it is based on open-source components, it is potentially independent on the power metering hardware and it does not require the payment of periodic fees. The developed solution has been implemented in a real large-scale scenario and proved to be an effective low-cost and low-impact tool that supports the maintenance of SL systems of the city of Trento by automatically detecting major faults and by allowing the analysis of electrical parameters at both global and cabinet-level scales.
