Abstract

The article highlights the problem of the prewar development of street art in modern cities of Ukraine using the example of Severskodonetsk as the regional center of Luhansk region. The research notes that modern industrial cities of Donbas are often monotonous and faceless in terms of architectural construction involving technologically outdated building structures, poorly planned and weakly structured territory, and growing social problems of residents. It is considered that the task of urban planners and architects is to create comfortable living conditions for dwellers of residential areas, turning these poor areas into attractive parts of the city. The prewar situation with street art in Severskodonetsk is analyzed. Street art in Severskodonetsk, its analysis, and recommendations for the development of street art in the city are examined. It is believed that in the war-zone region, it is necessary to pay attention to street art, which could not only significantly beautify the city’s appearance but also distract its residents, including many refugees, from negative thoughts. Taking into account the fact that after the war, its inhabitants will return to the city, including young people, it will be essential to pay more attention to the youth subculture and street art as one of these subcultures. It is noted that insight into the problem of street art as one of the brightest youth subcultures is one of the most important tasks in the modern city, so decorating street houses of modern cities and, hence, forming recommendations to solve this problem is a critical task today.
