Abstract
In this study, investigation of the insulation performances of the silicone oil as an insulating medium is studied with aim of realization of environmental friendly electric power apparatus, which is considered to be flame retardant. This investigation is searching for the streaming electrification characteristics when silicone oil flows in consideration of cooling of electric power apparatus. As the first step, the electric charge density characteristics accumulated in silicone oil and surface of insulator are investigated simultaneously. Four kinds of insulators including aramid paper were used the experiment. Silicone oil produces the electric charge of negative polarity by streaming electrification. These electrification characteristics have polarity contrary to the case of mineral oil obtained conventionally, and the magnitude of its electric charge density is influenced by the kind of insulator material. As the second step, in order to examine the streaming electrification characteristics of insulating oil, investigation which uses mineral oil is conducted similarly. From these examination results, the series of streaming electrification of various kinds of insulating oils and insulators is evaluated. Furthermore, optimization of the combination of silicone oil and insulator is considered
