Abstract

The Upper Cretaceous and Lower Paleogene flysch of the Carpathians is not sufficiently characterized by the faunal remains preserved in it. Five assemblages of pollen grains and spores have now been established in the Upper Senonian, Paleocene and Lower Eocene deposits of the Skale Zone of the Carpathians. These assemblages correlate with Upper Campanian, Lower Maastrichtian, Paleocene and Lower Eocene assemblages of Hungary, and Germany, as well as with those of other regions of the European province of the Eurasian floristic area.
