Abstract
Two specific examples are submitted of how CALL can be brought into play together with other more traditional media to organize linguistic material with a view to establishing communicative competence in face to face business discussions. Research in ESP will no doubt have to focus on the development of new types of multimedia methodologies with the emergence of the computer as sole technological driver. Taking into account possible multimedia formats, consideration should be given to their implications on student skill acquisition and teacher's autonomy in the production of specialized teaching material.
