Abstract

Two different didactic strategies for the initiation of preschool children into the physical sciences are presented. The first strategy is based on piagetian constructivism and the second on social constructivism. Once the basic theoretical and methodological prerequisites for the development of suitable activities from the physical sciences are analysed, then two examples are given. The first one concerns the discovery of the basic magnetic properties and the other concerns the understanding of the formation of shadows.
