Abstract

In today's telephone network services and connections that have to satisfy special requirements are implemented by means of sophisticated systems especially developed for particular purposes. For this reason the Deutsche Bundespost (DBP) Telekom intends to implement an intelligent Network (IN) in order to introduce services faster and more economically and to support flexible, market-oriented procurement procedures by providing interfaces that are clearly specifled. Its strategy is basedon a trial operation, which is to be followed immediately by an implementation on a larger scale. Apart from a description of the general network architecture this paper contains proposals on a distribution of functions among the IN components, interfaces, the post processing of billing data, network planning as well as implementation phases.
