Abstract

Abstract This article offers insight into the Telecommunications Sector's infrastructure and services and the importance of its survivability, to the economy and national security. It describes the interconnection between the Information Technology and Telecommunications infrastructures. It demonstrates the criticality of interdependency among other critical infrastructures and how their interconnection with the Information Technology and Telecommunications infrastructures is critical to their survivability. Specific vulnerabilities and challenges facing security planners as well as potential solutions for strengthening security weaknesses and advancing the continuity of telecommunications operations are discussed.
