Abstract
Development story of country India is multifaceted, but continuous growth cannot be taken for granted. With time, the country is getting downgraded on many global parameters and indexes irrespective of abundant resources. Keeping this notion as a pivot point, the study attempted to find out strategic mismatch in terms of planning of developmental and growth policies. Global competitiveness indexes have been used to identify the strategic thrust area for India and budget documents have analysed for exploring the focused area by policymakers. Strategic thrusts area and the focused area have been then compared to find out the mismatch in terms of alignment. Vast differences were found in the thrust area and focused areas. Strategic changes in term of formulation and implementation of policy are needed to overcome the ground level problem of inefficiency. The study presents several implications for researchers, policymakers as well as executors for being mindful with the quantitative approach of growth.
