Abstract

ABSTRACT A simple prescriptive model is developed to assess and improve economic relations between distributors and suppliers in a highly competitive market. Through a case study of the Canadian electrical distribution industry, it is shown that the present relations between distributors and their suppliers are very poorly structured. An alternative system of contractual relations is proposed which should improve long-run profitability of both suppliers and distributors.
