Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out what types of activity can be increased using the lecture method and the discussion method in learning Islamic religious education in class X1 at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo. The research method used is a qualitative research type using a case study approach and focusing on descriptive analysis, the research location is SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo, the research subjects are teachers teaching Islamic religious education and class X1 students SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo. Data collection methods are observation, interviews and documentation. The data validation technique uses triangulation. While the data analysis technique uses three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the study show that the lecture method can increase student activity, but there are still types of activity that cannot be increased, such as mental activity and emotional activity. While the discussion method can increase student activity, from the data collected and what the researchers have studied, in this discussion, on average, students can increase activity using the discussion method, while the types of activity that can be increased are visual activity, oral activity, listening activity, writing activity, mental activity, and emotional activity.
