Abstract

The production rate of strange clusters in relativistic heavy ion collisions is estimated using a simplified coalescence model and the cascade code ARC, adjusting parameters to fit ordinary composite particle production. We predict that a hypothetical ( ΛΛ) b would be produced at a rate dN dy of order 0.1 for central Au + Au collisions at Brookhaven AGS energies and midrapidity. The corresponding rate for the ΛΛ 6 He is 2 × 10 −5. We also suggest some experimental possibilities for detecting such clusters.
