Abstract
Using static and ultrasonic methods, absolute values of the strain-optical coefficients, p 11, p 12 and p 44 are determined for RbCl, RbBr and RbI in the wavelength region 240–410 nm. Following the band-structure approach, deformation potential constants of the valence band at K = 0 are evaluated for RbBr and RbI.
