Abstract

Limited studies have been conducted on the impact of the Ni/Ti ratio on the strain glass (STG) transition behavior in TiNiCo alloys. For this work, Ti50-xNi48+xCo2 (x = 1, 2) alloys with varying Ni/Ti ratios are prepared to investigate the microstructural evolution, temperature-dependent electrical resistivity, and dynamic mechanical characteristics. It was found that no martensitic transformation occurs in Ti48Ni50Co2 owing to the increasing Ni/Ti ratio, but instead a STG transition was confirmed by the existence of nanodomains. Consequently, a continuous softening of storage moduli over a broad temperature range was observed.
