The eventual movement of the storm rollers onto the beach and the resulting formation of scour marks are attributed to storm-generated currents and waves. The comparison of these features to similar ones from sediments of the Middle Devonian Hamilton Formation indicates that two types of scour marks may form from storm rollers, depending upon their site of formation.
