Abstract
Abstract This chapter describes some common stored product pests, i.e. the rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae and S. granarius), sawtoothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis), red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum) and confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum), cigarette or tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne), drug store beetle (Stegobium paniceum), carpet beetle (Anthrenus spp.) and Indian meal moth (Plodia interpunctella). Some methods are recommended for their management, which include inspection, habitat modification, application of insecticides and fumigants, and regular monitoring programme.
