Abstract

In a recent paper a formalism was developed relating to the transition between a non-reverberant and a reverberant dynamic system. In this paper the formalism is extended to allow for externally placed drives to act on the dynamic system. A simulated example that incorporates the extension is cited. To accommodate the example the formalism is converted from its one-dimensional format to the three-dimensional format; the conversion is conducted in the manner prescribed in that previous paper. The converted formalism is then employed to assess whether the relative contributions to the stored energy in the three-dimensional dynamic system—an enclosure—can be deciphered by artificially modifying the reverberation state of the enclosure. The example serves to illustrate the manner by which the reverberation can be modified and the way the relative contributions can be assessed.
