Abstract

We will construct two different types of storage rings at RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory (RIBF). Accelerator complex including these storage rings is called MUSES (Multi-USe Experimental Storage rings). One is an accumulator cooler ring (ACR). An electron cooling device and a stochastic cooling device will be installed in the ACR. The RI beams quickly cooled by the combination of the two cooling methods are not only used for experiments at the ACR but also transported to double storage rings (DSR). The DSR is a new type of storage ring. One ring of the DSR is for RI (heavy ion) beams, and another ring accepts not only heavy ion beams but also an electron beam. In this paper, we present outline of the RIBF project and two kinds of unique experiments planned at the DSR i.e. the RI-electron collision experiment and the RI-X-ray collision experiment.
