Abstract

Global trends show the worldwide increasing demand of energy and growing scarcity of fossil resources. To guarantee a safe and reliable electrical power supply also in future times, the aspect of sustainable electrical power generation is becoming more and more important. Thus an increasing number of countries meet this challenge with a steadily growing amount of renewable electricity production. Especially in Germany a part of the electrical power generation shifts into the medium and low voltage levels. Their increasing importance for the power supply requires a new way of distribution system operation with respect to transmission system operator's (TSO's) system responsibility. This paper proposes a schedule based distribution system operator (DSO) operation approach with special focus on the storage management algorithm. Numerical case studies have been performed to analyze the characteristics of the developed algorithms. It is shown, that the defined schedule between DSO and TSO grid level can be realized, without creating critical grid situations.
