Abstract

Endometritis is defined as the infection and inflammation of the endometrial lining [1]. It could be acute, characterized by the presence of microabscess and neutrophil invasion of the endometrium or chronic in which case there is edema, elevated stromal cell density, and the presence of plasma cell infiltrate in the stroma [2,3]. Retained products of conception (RPOC), a known cause of endometritis, complicates 1% of pregnancies [4,5]. The formation of intrauterine adhesions is a serious complication of patients with RPOC.
