Abstract

The Corona virus 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak was declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020.1 Australia's healthcare response was to redirect resources and cease lower priority services, including elective surgical cases. The introduction of social distancing meant outpatient face to face clinics were cancelled, and outpatient clinics had to look for alternative ways of continuing to deliver services to their patients. This paper will explore how COVID-19 impacted on stomal therapy in a major teaching hospital in Sydney, requiring implementation of new work practices, as well as rapidly stream-lining these ahead of patient needs.
