Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the behavior of types of investors on the stock exchange and how it influences foreign investor behavior in the face of index volatility. Secondary data from the only stock exchange available in the country, B3 - Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão, were used. The information is from January to November 2020, because the month of December, as pointed out by the aforementioned institution, has a loss of data and does not include the necessary values to present in this work. It can be concluded that, in periods of higher crises, foreign investors withdraw their money seeking exposure in stronger economies. In the case of individual and institutional investors, it was noted that both seek to enter positions considering discounted market values. Another finding is the issue of foreign investors in the volatility of the index, in which their contributions or withdrawals, quoted in real, but coming from the dollar currency, cause the financial flow to rise on a large scale.
