Abstract

Abstract We describe the basic ideas of stochastic orders, which formally describe intuitive ideas like ‘being larger’, ‘being more variable’ or ‘being more dependent’ for risks or for portfolio of risks. We give the definitions of the most important stochastic orders like usual stochastic order, convex order, supermodular order and others, and we consider their most important properties and some applications.
