Abstract
Stochastic model of a multiple unit, warm standby system is considered. The failure rate of a unit while online is λj when the number of failed units at the commencement of operation is j, while the p d f of the repair time is arbitrarily distributed. Identifying suitable regeneration points, the operating characteristics of the system like Reliability and the Availability are derived and a particular case is also obtained.
