Abstract

In this paper, the stochastic behaviour of a parallel redundant complex system which is working intermittently, having three types of components, with exponential failures and idle time distributions and general recall and repair time distributions has been examined with regard to dependability. The Laplace transforms of the various probabilities that the system is in idle state, operating under normal efficiency, reduced efficiency, failed due to the failure of the ith component inL2 and in the failed state due to the failure of all theK components in classL3 have been obtained, by employing the supplementary variable technique developed by Cox [1]. Some particular cases are also discussed.
