Abstract

The behaviour of a complex system, consisting of components forming two classesL 1 andL 2 where failure inL 1 brings about the complete breakdown of the system and that inL 2 causes the system to work in reduced efficiency state, has been investigated. The repair of failed components in these classes is carried out under three different repair disciplines, viz., head of line, preemptive resume and preemptive repeat.Laplace Transforms of the probabilities that the system is in normal-efficiency, reduced-efficiency and in down-state, have been obtained. Asymptotic solutions also have been derived.
