Abstract

The bioactive substances GA 3, kinetin, succinic acid, indole acetic acid (IAA) and α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), mixed with lanolin were applied to the terminal buds of 1st-order branches of Scots pine ( Pinus sylvestris L.) grafts. The influence of these substances on the formation of female flowers, graft height increment and the characteristics of cones and seeds was investigated. It was found that 0.5% GA 3 stimulated the formation of female flowers and increased the cone crop. Kinetin (0.5%) decreased the shedding of female flowers, and NAA increased the weight of cones and the number of seeds in them.
