Abstract
A comparison of threshold and slope efficiency is made for 2-μm laser action in Ho <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3+</sup> -doped YLF and YAG hosts at room temperature. Spectroscopic and laser properties of these materials are also discussed.
