Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) has been observed in the liquid titanium tetrachloride at wavelength of 1.9 μm using a single-longitudinal-mode infrared optical parametric oscillator, pumped by a 1.06 μm Q-switched neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet laser. The SBS threshold was measured to be 3.5 mJ in a 20 ns pulse, and the slope efficiency was 70%.
