Abstract

AIDS creates a new source of stigma and affects the entire spectrum of a PWA's (person with AIDS) social being, both his family and peer relationships. This paper is divided into two parts. The first part combines ethnography with psychometric scales in an effort to understand the lives of gay men with different levels of personal and medical impairment from the AIDS virus. The second provides six case histories of individuals from the various categories who are affected negatively to different degrees.
