Abstract
Abstract Stigma management describes how individuals and organizations respond to, resist, and (re)construct the enactment of stigma. It is a communicative process that is highly relevant to the study and practice of health communication. Scholars primarily use modified labeling theory and stigma management communication theory to understand, critique, and transform the experience and management of stigma. Increasingly, health communication scholars are also attending to issues of intersectionality, power, organizational structures, materiality, multiple strategies, and allyship in stigma management communication research and practice.
