Abstract

Abstract Reactions of tert-butyl (chloro) diphenylsilane with ammonia, primary and secondary amines, or their lithium salts produce compounds having the general formula t-Bu(C6H5)2SiNRR'. These compounds are viscous, high-boiling liquids with high thermal stabilities and unusually low reactivities toward hydrolysis. Comparisons are made to the tert-butyldimethylsilyl analogues.
