Abstract
AbstractA stereoselective total synthesis of a naturally occurring cytotoxic styryl lactone, crassalactone A (1), has been accomplished. The synthesis involves (−)‐diisopropyl D‐tartrate as the starting material, and the stereoselective additions of Grignard reagent and MeNO2 to two chiral aldehyde intermediates as the key steps.
