Abstract
AbstractA simple, one‐pot multi‐step route for the synthesis of a higher carbon sugar 3 by the HDA reaction of a α,β‐unsaturated ketone prepared in situ from protected D‐xylose with PDC in C6H6 or CH3CN, followed by the reduction to the C10 higher carbon sugar derivatives 4 and 5, is described.
