Abstract
Peterson reaction of 7 E,9 E-β-ionylideneacetaldehyde-tricarbonyliron complex with ethyl trimethylsilyl acetate afforded Z-olefin in high stereoselectivity, which was converted to the corresponding 11Z-retinal in excellent yield.
