Abstract

This chapter looks at several developments in stereoscopic cinema, from the Lumiere brothers' film the L'Arrivee du train, the polarization of light rays, and the Vectograph. The Vectograph combined the images from the left and right eyes, along with polarization crossed at 90 degrees, on a single print. It soon was able to simplify stereoscopic motion picture projection.
