Abstract
Treatment of pentadienol-Fe(CO) 3 complexes, having alkene functionality in the side chain, with boron trifluoride, results in a stereospecific cyclization by reaction of the alkene with a stabilized carbocation intermediate; the stereochemical outcome was confirmed by X-ray structure determination of one of the products.
